We're a general contractor, which means we don't self-perform. We select, contract, and manage licensed trade partners, and we answer for every one of them.
There's a difference between managing construction and understanding it. I've done nearly every one of these trades myself, and it shows up in the small moments: knowing whether the framing is right before the drywall covers it, knowing when a schedule is realistic and when it's wishful, knowing which problems are real. Most of our project work happens in Davidson and Williamson Counties, in and around Nashville, Brentwood, and Franklin. We're licensed and have built in more than twenty Tennessee jurisdictions.
Questions We Hear Most
Do you have hands-on construction experience, or do you just manage subcontractors?
Both, and in that order. I started building as a kid and spent years doing the work myself: framing, roofing, finish carpentry, most of what goes into a house. I run a general contracting firm now, and everything I know about managing our trade partner team comes from having done the work myself.
What is the RightStart program?
RightStart is our preconstruction process, and honestly it's the part of the job we care most about. It covers site evaluation, feasibility, scope definition, budget development, and schedule, all worked out in writing before construction starts. If you haven't bought land yet, we start there. If you already have drawings, we start with what they'll actually cost to build.
What's the most important thing I can do to make my construction project go well?
Spend more time planning before you build. It's a less exciting answer than people hope for, but it's the true one. Most of what goes wrong on a construction project traces back to a decision that wasn't made early enough: a scope question left open, a budget line nobody verified, a site condition nobody looked at, a selection made late under pressure. Decisions are inexpensive on paper and costly in the field. RightStart exists to move as many of them as possible to the paper stage.
Do you handle both design and construction?
We're a general contractor rather than a design-build firm. We work with established design partners for drawings and selections. What stays under one roof is accountability: one point of contact, one party responsible for the outcome.
Can you help me find land to build on?
Yes, in two ways. We're not realtors and we don't sell lots, but we're glad to connect you with a reputable realtor. More importantly, we'll evaluate any lot you're considering before you buy it. Site conditions drive a large share of what a home costs to build, and that's worth knowing while you can still choose a different lot.
What does a custom home cost in Nashville?
The biggest variable is finish selections, and those are largely up to you: cabinetry, flooring, tile, fixtures, windows, and millwork can move a budget substantially on the very same floor plan. Land and site conditions account for much of the rest. That's why we bring cost feedback into the design phase rather than after it: a selection you can price while the drawings are still flexible is a decision, not a problem. Yes. Our Tennessee license is BC 73150, the state's broadest classification, covering residential, commercial, and industrial construction across 34 building categories. We also hold Metro Nashville Master Contractor license MCN151894. Both are publicly verifiable. We carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage and will provide certificates on request, before you sign anything.
